Access tells me 'Invalid Table Name' when I try to attach...When trying to attach to one of my DataEase tables with Microsoft Access, I get a message telling me I have a bad table name. But the table name looks fine. What's up? Chances are Access is not being entirely truthful here. Access will complain about the table name when it finds that EITHER the table name OR a field name in that table break its syntax rules. Access does not care for some of the special characters DataEase' liberal naming convention allows such as '.', '[',etc. While we can't do much with the table names, ConnectEase provides a mechanism for filtering offending characters from field names. Using the ODBC Adminstrator (from the Control Panel) you execute Setup on a ConnectEase data source and will find a Translate option on the Options tab of the setup dialog. This will permit you to define special characters and their replacements. See Help during setup for more information. For best results with Access, activate your ConnectEase data source setup with the ODBC administrator, select the options tab and enter !`#&[]/\.: as the 'Replace These Characters' value, and ________ as the 'With These Characters' value. This cause the driver to automatically replace characters Access finds offensive with underscores.
